FAQ
Which files are supported?
IndexGenie currently accepts PDF manuscripts only for book uploads. The optional required-terms upload accepts TXT or CSV files.
Which languages are supported?
Dutch, English, and German are currently supported.
Can I force specialist terms into the index?
Yes. Upload an optional TXT or CSV required-terms file with the manuscript. IndexGenie still uses the language model for normal extraction, then matches your required terms page by page and keeps matching terms in the final index.
How should required terms be formatted?
Use one term per line, or separate terms with commas or semicolons. Blank lines and lines starting with # are ignored.
Are there limits for required terms?
The default limit is 400 unique required terms per book. Required-term TXT or CSV files larger than 10 MB are rejected.
What is the maximum book size?
The Free plan supports PDFs up to 100 pages. Paid plans, Single Book credits, and admin accounts use the default 900-page maximum.
Can I export the index?
Yes. Completed indexes can be downloaded as TXT, DOCX, and ODT files.
Do generated indexes need manual editing?
Usually, yes. IndexGenie creates a strong draft index, but most generated indexes still need editorial review and some manual editing before publication.
How do payments work?
Single Book is a one-time Mollie payment for one extra book credit. Stripe subscription checkout remains configurable for Pro and Publisher if the billing provider is switched back to Stripe.
Does IndexGenie use cookies?
The app does not use advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies. Sign-in state is stored locally in the browser.
What can administrators see?
Administrators can review registered users, subscription status, book counts, last online time, and processing logs for support and operations.
